US EPA will be issuing a solicitation for a $10 million nationwidegrant program for communities this summer with grant selection this fall. The grant program will award 20-30 grants of $100,000.00-$500,000.00, and will require a 50% match (that can be in-kind). Local governments, regional communities and tribes will be eligible to apply for funding for projects including mitigation, outreach and education, and implementation of energy efficient technology. More information will be distributed as the grant program is finalized. - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants
EECBG grants will be made to municipalities either directly from the federal Department of Energy to the ten largest towns and cities or through a competitive process that being developed by the NH Office of Energy and Planning. The grant application process for all but the ten largest communities should be ready sometime in late fall of 2009. The ten largest towns should get their funds directly from DOE late this summer. Local Energy Committees will not be able to apply directly, but should work with their municipality to submit an application.
